U.S. Supreme Court OK's Photo ID Law to Vote

The U.S. Supreme Court, in Crawford v. Marion County Election Board, No. 07-12, has announced in a 6 to 3 decision that Indiana's law requiring voters to show a state or federal picture identification in order to vote is constitutional. Indiana's law the strictest voter ID law to be challenged to date, it was argued placed an unconstitutional burden on the right to vote. Justice Stevens, writing the majority decision found no such burden. The court did suggest that a case with a better record demonstrating the law actually inhibited voter's access to the polls in an unreasonable manner might dictate a different result.
